VPA LEADERSHIP
Executive Director
The Director of the Violence Prevention Agency is Dr. Tau Braun (Ed.D., M.S., EMT). Dr. Braun is a South African registered Clinical Psychologist and Violence Prevention Specialist. As Director, Dr. Tau Braun manages the operations, personnel, partnerships, and budget of the VPA.
Dr. Braun has worked for and consulted with a wide range of health-care settings including rural and city clinics, hospitals, psychiatric facilities, and maximum security correctional facilities. He has over 10 years of demonstrated success in Management, Strategic Development, Change Management, and Leadership Training. He advises and trains individuals, organizations, educational institutions, and government organizations in Leadership and Violence Prevention Strategies, including Threat Assessment and Threat Management.
Senior Advisor
The Senior Advisor to the VPA is Captain Robert Martin. His expertise is called upon by the VPA to assist with high-level complex cases. He provides guidance to the VPA to shape its research, strategies, and procedures. Capt. Martin is a VPA lead mentor, speaker, and trainer.
Capt. Martin is widely regarded as one of the nation’s leading experts in violence prevention and threat assessment. He has received numerous awards and citations from the President of the United States, the Governor of California, the Los Angeles City Council and the Los Angeles Police Commission.
Capt. Martin is a professional keynote speaker and provides training to government agencies, major universities, and Fortune 500 companies. He is a founding member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP), a California Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission Certified Facilitator, and a member of the National Speakers Association. He is a federal court qualified expert on issues related to threat assessment and threat management.
